OpenStudy is a social learning network where students ask questions, give help, and connect with other students studying the same things. It aims to make the world one big study group by matching students studying the same subject at the same time into one large, live study session where students help each other on homework, lessons and tests in real time. OpenStudy has sessions on math, finance, physics, biology, writing, computer sciences, and history.
It is funded by the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and the Georgia Research Alliance, and is part of Georgia Tech’s ATDC Center in Technology Square, Midtown Atlanta.
OpenStudy advertises that it disrupts education in two ways:
1. OpenStudy makes help more available by expanding the domain of teachers to a global set of peers
2. OpenStudy makes learning more fun, by making it like a video game where everyone is on the same team.
